There are a lot of untruths associated with birds and feeding of birds, and they can be extremely persistent, regardless of the actual facts. Being a food company wild birds, Duncraft means all! An amazing myth that persists is that hummingbirds migrate to South America by attachment mounts on the back of the Canadian geese. The Canadian geese never go to South America, much less to carry a passenger on their way! Here, Duncraft provides the facts behind the five food myths more birds.

Myth: If people feed the birds, they become dependent on the bird feeders and will forget how to find food on their own. This myth is very similar to the other - that people should not feed the birds in the summer because there are enough natural food and birds have to learn does not become dependent on bird feeders.

Fact: Birds get only about 25% of their food from feeders. If the birds can not find food to
a bird feeder, they will continue to find food sources in nature such as insects, seeds of weeds, buds, sap, spiders, small fruits and pine nuts. But if a bird feeder is empty in a very harsh winter, it will probably be a constraint for the birds. Birds have not forgotten how to find food, it just may be very limited during certain times of the year. The food they find at a bird feeder will be a welcome addition. If people eat birds, it is preferable to keep the food during the winter. With regard to food not in summer, birds probably do not need feeders in the summer, but how can love birds observe all their beautiful colours and behaviours when birds are search for food in the Woods and fields instead of in the backyard?

Myth: The feet of the birds will paste poles metal feeder for birds in winter.

Fact: If this was true, birds may be stuck to all kinds of metal things, they can land on - garbage cans, gutters, metal roofs - duck feet would stick to the ice and would be therefore a Penguin. But of course, who does not. Birds have no sweat glands in their feet, so there is no humidity it y to freeze what either. Also, there is little blood flow to the foot of a bird, so the feet of the bird are cold in the winter. So something to stick to metal cold in winter, it must be hot and humid, the feet of a bird are cold and dry.

Myth: If birds eat non-cooked rice, as launched at the wedding it swell in the stomach and kill them.

Fact: Birds not eat cooked rice and other grains all the time - just ask any farmer rice or wheat! It may be that most people want to know, but when birds eat food, it first enters a culture which is a food storage facility. Birds can delete food in their crops any time they want. It is the way they eat their young. From there, food enters a two part stomach a bit both. The first part digests the food and the second part, the gizzard, grinds the food. The gizzard uses grit (small grains of sand that birds pick up the purpose) to help grind food. Thus, rice, seeds and grains are easily sent by the birds, they are made to eat these foods!

Myth: If people keep feeding the hummingbirds in the fall, the birds will remain around the Manger and do not migrate.

Fact: Hummingbirds will migrate if they are fed or not. The trigger to start the migration is the length of the day. As the decrease of the length of the day (and the amount of light) in the fall, the hummingbirds instinctively begin to eat much more, on fat for their migration. They also need food during migration. Keeping a manger no later than normal (around the beginning of October), can help feeding birds in addition to the North that they fly towards the South.

Myth: If a baby is found on the ground, the nest, it should not be presented in the nest because parents detects a human scent and reject the baby.

Fact: Birds have a poor sense of smell and is not able to detect any human scent on a baby bird. Ornithologists often deal with birds of baby for a reason or another person having no impact on the family. A parent bird instinct is also incredibly strong, too strong to abandon their babies for almost any reason.
