Spill bird feeder encourages foraging on the ground

I want what is in the bird feeder!

With large feeders comes great responsibility... and the search for food on the ground.  Allows the face spills of your bird feeder because of the wind, birds, squirrels and even when you are filling it.  All bird on the ground seed attracts squirrels, mice, Chipmunks... etc, which can all cause damage to your property and just be annoying.

Here are some tips to avoid leaks of the bird feeder:

1 Feeder for birds 1 seeds

Place only 1 type of seeds in each bird feeder.  This will eliminate the birds who are looking for a particular type of seed from your feeder.  A popular example is the blue jays.  Blue Jays like sunflower seeds and stir all other seeds on the ground to sunflower seeds.  If you have a charger dedicated to sunflower seeds this problem will be eliminated.

Hang a shelf under your bird feeder

Hanging of a plateau in your bird feeder, or turn a chicane squirrel head down under the feeder captured a large quantity of seed poured out of your bird feeder.  Draw something as simple that with time you will save money on seeds, and potential damage to your home by the workers the wild bird seed.

Buy a heavier bird feeder

It's simple, weighs more the bird feeder, less it will blow around.  I recommend the addition of 50 lbs of lead at the bottom of your feeder, but a robust bird feeder will reduce spills of bird seeds.  If you do not purchase a heavier bird feeder to ensure that you have attached it to something that can support the additional weight, especially if the larger birds eat your bird feeder.

Fill your feeder for birds in your House or your Garage

We all have the tendency to be lazy and leave school at our feeders with a small network and scooper, standing on our toes in tip and pour bird seed in the bird feeder, but this will cost you more in the long term.  Very simply by bringing your bird feeder in your House or in the garage and fill the bird feeder with seed, you will eliminate all the seeds that you fill the bird feeder spills.

If you bring your bird feeder to the Interior to remember to have something to catch the seeds that you remove and put or he defeated the purpose.  Something as simple as a garbage can lid there will suffice nicely!
